Ground cherries are one of the easiest things to grow in your garden. All they require is fertile soil and they'll do the rest. The plants are very bushy, up to 3 feet in diameter, so they block out the weeds well. The fruit grow inside a husk and they drop from the plant when they are ripe, if you have even as few as 3 plants, you'll be harvesting hundreds of ground cherries. The fruit are sweet and taste a lot like pineapple, the consistency is like a tomatillo. They taste wonderful fresh and are great in preserves or pies. 75 days to mature, Full Sun.
